Our log home was built in 1998 and after about 20 years of weather, wear and tear, our cabin needed a major restoration. The problem was… I personally did the original wood preparation and staining back in 1998 and had an idea of how much work was involved. When I did the work myself, it was relatively easy, because the wood was new but still needed a lot of sanding and preparation followed by staining. And, this took 6 months out of my life to complete (inside and out). When I looked at my cabin after 20 years of weather, I knew the original stain had to be removed, the wood cleaned and prepped, followed by several coats of staining and clear coat. I absolutely was not up to the task because of a lack of energy and a total lack of equipment and expertise. To further my anxieties of wondering what to do, I knew that the job had to be perfect, because of my obsession to make the house look spectacular.

After about 2 years of searching for a craftsman that would take at least as much care as I would and who shared my obsessive need for perfection, I found him… Randy at Tall Timber Log Home Restorations. Let me say this again… Randy is a craftsman, not a guy who “just” stains cabins. Avoid any company that says they offer painting and/or staining services. A log home requires a totally different level of expertise than your typical painter. If you’re looking for somebody to slap stain on wood, don’t bother wasting your time and money. Log homes need to be properly prepped and the level of work needed to get houses ready for staining is huge. Get it done professionally, so that it is done correctly and will last. And, be sure to maintain your log home, as these homes require periodic TLC.

Randy came to my home, brought thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment, scaffolding, and a dedicated crew. It took a few weeks of hard work with professionals and the place now looks spectacular!! Even if I wanted to, I could not have done what Randy did. In fact, the place now looks better than it did when it was brand new. I have to say, the place looks like a show home, complete with beautifully restored logs, perfect staining, new stairs, new skirting, new accent lighting, and refinished doors and trim. The place is a head-turner and Randy got it done. While the job was being completed, Randy sent a ton of photos showing how things were progressing by the hour. And, once he was done and paid in full, he continues to check in frequently to make sure everything stays in perfect shape. The guy goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is super happy and stays happy. Randy and the crew are the best of the best and totally professional, will put a massive huge smile on a customer’s face, and will leave your home and property (they clean up!)  looking pristine. I would challenge anybody to find somebody better than Randy. Randy’s a rare breed in this day and age.
