A successful exterior restoration requires care and attention in understanding proper wood preparation. We apply best practices in media and dry ice blasting to remove the existing finish to achieve the correct wood surface finish needed for today’s new high performance stains.
Crushed Glass coating removal
Depending on the previous coatings used, enviro friendly crushed glass and/or dry ice is used for the removal of the failed coatings which is a dry process and totally removes all coating from the surface.
Wood surface completion and finishing for stain
After blasting, all woodwork is finished to remove loose wood fiber and achieve the proper surface finish and includes, grinding back all log ends. A critical step in achieving a high quality finish.
When completed, your logs surfaces reveal the wood’s natural grain, is free of loose fiber, and properly prepared to accept and absorb the maximum amount of stain the logs will take while accentuating the wood grain.
